ABOUT

The European Association for the Advancement of the Social Sciences is a non-profit research organisation registered in Vienna. The Association aims to improve society through the dissemination of high-quality interdisciplinary research. Currently, it does so mainly by publishing the journal Innovation: The European Journal of Social Science Research – together with Routledge – Taylor & Francis and the nexus institute.

The Association was created in 1989 as an independent research institute specialized in strategic policy analysis with a focus on Europe. Since 2017 it has taken over the research activities of the former Interdisciplinary Research Centre ICCR. Since 2019 it has focused its activities on the publication of the journal Innovation: The European Journal of Social Science Research.

In 2020 the Association’s board has been revived and several new members have joined.

PAST PROJECTS

Currently the Association focuses its activities on the publication of its journal. Listed below is a small selection of past research and advisory projects in the fields of governance & participation, green economy, research policy and social policy & health.

EURO-SPACE

“Citizens’ debate on Space for Europe“

Im Jahr 2011 hat die Europäische Kommission das Grundsatzdokument zur Strategie der Europäischen Raumfahrtsforschung publiziert, Wie die EUROBAROMETER Studie 2014 in allen Europäischen Mitgliedsstaaten gezeigt hat ist dies auch ein Anliegen der Bürgerinnen und Bürger. Im Rahmen der Studie wurden 27.680 Bürgerinnen und Bürger befragt. Sie erwarten sich für die nächsten 20 Jahre Auswirkungen auf Beschäftigung, Fortschritt in der medizinischen Forschung, Fortschritte für Energieeffizienz und alternative Energien sowie auf den Kampf gegen den Klimawandel. Ebenso sind sie sich bewusst, dass Informationen aus dem All Mobilität erleichtern.
